License agreement
Rockstar Shaders is proprietary, closed-source software, licensed to you for personal use. This is the whole agreement; the same text ships as LICENSE.md with the mod.
In plain words: install it on your own Macs and play. Do not share the jar, take it apart, change it or sell it. Screenshots, videos and streams are welcome with a credit. It is an alpha, offered as is, through Patreon.
Copyright (c) 2026 Ryleigh Newman. All rights reserved.
Rockstar Shaders (the "Software") is proprietary, closed-source software. It is licensed to you, not sold. By downloading, installing or using the Software you agree to this agreement. If you do not agree, do not install or use it.
1. Definitions
"Software" means the Rockstar Shaders mod for Minecraft: Java Edition, including the jar file, the shader programs and native libraries inside it, its settings screens, documentation, and every update, build or pre-release of it that the Licensor makes available, in any form.
"Licensor" means Ryleigh Newman.
"You" means the person who downloads, installs or uses the Software.
"Supporter" means a person who holds an active membership at the Licensor's Patreon page at the tier through which the Software is offered.
2. What you may do
Subject to this agreement, the Licensor grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to:
- install and run the Software on computers that you own or control, for playing Minecraft: Java Edition;
- keep using any build of the Software that you downloaded while you were a Supporter, after your membership ends, under the terms of this agreement;
- make screenshots, recordings, videos and streams of Minecraft running with the Software, and publish them, commercially or not, provided you name Rockstar Shaders as the shader mod in the description or credits.
3. What you may not do
You may not, and may not let anyone else:
- copy, share, upload, mirror, sell, rent, lend or otherwise redistribute the Software or any part of it, including the jar file and any file inside it, whether or not for money, and including inside a modpack, a launcher profile, a server resource, or a file-sharing service;
- decompile, disassemble, reverse engineer, extract the shader programs or native libraries from, or otherwise attempt to derive the source of the Software, except to the extent that applicable law expressly allows it despite this term;
- modify, translate, adapt or make derivative works of the Software, or of any shader program, texture, model or other file that ships inside it;
- remove, hide or alter any copyright, trademark or other notice in the Software;
- use the name Rockstar Shaders, the star logo, or any confusingly similar name or mark, for any product, pack, service, channel or page, or in a way that suggests the Licensor endorses you, except for the credit described in section 2.3;
- use the Software to violate the Minecraft End User License Agreement or the rules of any server you play on;
- circumvent the way the Software is distributed, including by obtaining it from anyone other than the Licensor's own Patreon page or another channel the Licensor names.
4. Ownership
The Software is protected by copyright and other laws. The Licensor keeps every right not expressly granted here. Nothing in this agreement transfers any ownership of the Software, its source, its shader programs, its assets, or the Rockstar Shaders name and logo to you.
5. Patreon and updates
The Software is offered to Supporters through the Licensor's Patreon page. The Licensor decides which builds are offered, at which tier, and for how long, and may change tiers, prices and what they include at any time. Patreon's own terms govern your membership and payments. The Licensor is under no obligation to provide updates, new builds, support or any particular feature, and may stop offering the Software at any time.
6. Pre-release software
Builds marked alpha, beta or pre-release are early. They are measured on a small number of machines, they may render incorrectly, run slowly, crash, or interact badly with other mods, and their settings and features may change or disappear between builds. Back up your worlds. Reports of problems are welcome through the channels the Licensor names, and by sending one you grant the Licensor the right to use it to improve the Software without owing you anything.
7. Third-party software
The Software runs inside Minecraft: Java Edition, which is owned by Mojang AB and Microsoft and is subject to its own license, which you must hold. The Software depends on Fabric Loader and the Fabric API, which are separate open-source projects under their own licenses and are not distributed with the Software. Any third-party component that is distributed with the Software is listed, with its license, in the third-party notices, and those licenses govern those components. Rockstar Shaders is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Mojang, Microsoft, the Fabric project or Apple.
8. Privacy
The Software makes no network connections of its own and collects no data. The Licensor's privacy policy (rockstarshaders.com/privacy) describes what the Software and the website do and do not collect.
9. No warranty
The Software is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title or non-infringement. The Licensor does not warrant that the Software will meet your requirements, run on your computer, run without interruption or error, or be free of defects. You use it at your own risk.
10. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Licensor is not liable to you for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, worlds, saves, profits or goodwill, arising out of or related to the Software or this agreement, however caused, even if advised of the possibility. To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Licensor's total liability to you for all claims under this agreement is limited to the amount you paid the Licensor through Patreon in the twelve months before the claim arose. Some jurisdictions do not allow some of these limits; in those places they apply only as far as the law allows.
11. Termination
This agreement lasts until it ends. It ends automatically, without notice, if you break any of its terms. The Licensor may also end it by notice if the Licensor stops offering the Software. When it ends you must stop using the Software and delete every copy you have. Sections 3, 4, 9, 10, 11 and 12 survive.
12. General
This agreement is the whole agreement between you and the Licensor about the Software and replaces any earlier statement about it. If any term is found unenforceable, the rest stays in force. The Licensor's failure to enforce a term is not a waiver of it. You may not assign this agreement; the Licensor may. This agreement is governed by the laws of the United States and of the state in which the Licensor resides, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and any dispute will be brought in the courts of that state, except that either party may seek an injunction anywhere to protect intellectual property.
